How many ways are there, to keep a 17 months old baby with fever, entertained? Not many! Melina has high fever for 2 days now, she can't breath properly, sooooo I am sleepless!!! The weather is rainy, sooooo I have to dry the clothes in an unusual way. But, the fireplace leaves you with that warm feeling that everything is going to be ok!

A day at the zoo

Well, it wasn't the sunniest day, but it didn't rain and Melina surely liked it a lot! Her favorite pets, for now, are little ducks. All kind of ducks! Quack, quack!

Long time no see

It's been over a month, since I last made a post! The truth is that I wasn't in a very good mood and blogging didn't seem a good idea. And then something happened! I saw these awards that three sweet girls gave me and boom! Blogging was back to program. So, the least I have to do is to thank Giota, Mahi and Sheena for their little help! Now I have to give the first award (Liebster) to 5 blogs with less than 200 readers and the second one (A friendly blog) to 7. Let's see how to do this. The first five blogs get both awards and the last two, since they have over 200 readers, get the Friendly blog award: 1. Peekaboo | 2. My lifebox  | 3. Stars stripes and dots | 4. Heartcore | 5. Miranta's little garden | 6. Έξυπνες ιδέες | 7. Owl mommy.

Free Friday

Last April, I went back to work after 10 months of being away, due to maternity leave. Since then every Friday is work free! Today, Melina had her first driving lesson, I had my nails done but before that I glued together this adorable little fawn which sweet Sheena shared at her wonderful blog! Thank you Sheena, our fireplace needed some pink!

No place like home

Since Melina was born, we are trying to live a healthier life... food wise! That means lots and lots of cooking! I've read somewhere that it is very important for a family to have their everyday meals together, all in one table. That's what we try to do. It's not possible to do it everyday, but the important thing is that we try. Our kitchen is a place where we spent many hours of the day, so it has to be pleasant. And I think we accomplished that! Colors, faces, flowers, a dog and... alcohol ha!ha! Enjoy the tour!

This cute fish is a present from Melina’s godparents. Its song is probably the most sweet sound I’ve ever heard. Melina is hearing that song since she was in my belly! And I’m sure that she recognizes the sound, judging by her look when she hears it. The garland is something new I found here, and I’m not sure if it has found its final place in the room. We’ll have to wait and see!

New love… washi tape

I recently decided to write Melina’s story. What a better place to write on, than a sketchbook. Stories from the day she was born to present, her first time to pretty much anything and little souvenirs attached. For the decoration of the sketchbook I wanted something better than plain tape. That’s when I discovered washi tape! I visited Etsy to see what I could find and BOOM!!! I found this cute shop called Stars, Stripes & Dots. Very good prices and a big variety of washi tape. The shop also has a blog, where you can see some ideas of how to use washi tape. Very inspiring!

No place like home

It’s true! It is my favorite place to be! So as from today I’m starting “No place like home” where I will show you, what else, our home. I believe that your living space should project who you are. I was never fan of the “serious” decoration, if you know what I mean. I like color, shapes and also things that you wouldn’t imagine to place on your shelf! I hope you will get inspired. Don’t hesitate to join me on this project! Have a good month!

New friend

You know how sharks go round and round their victims before attacking? This is exactly the way Melina goes around her new friend Pinocchio! That poor wooden thing had so many crashes that I’m sure if it could speak, it would certainly say: “GO AWAY AND STOP TOUCHING ME!” Yes! That cute face you see in that frame! This is how Elias pictured Melina when she was 6 months old. You probably don’t see the resemblance now but back then, I assure you, this is how she looked!

September is here?

This is a question I ask myself! 10 days ago the first rain visited us and everything felt like September. I thought that the climate is not so messed up, as they say. But here we are now, ready to go to the beach, again! Well, Elias really went to the beach today (he is doing some work on our summer house)! Anyway, I will stop complaining. Maybe it's that thing that gets you right after summer vacation is over: "Ok summer is over. I want winter, NOW!".

Smiles :)

Some things that made me smile last week: The wedding of a close friend (that's where the flower is from), wearing my new shoes and Melina's soooo innocent look! What made you smile recently?

A Thursday afternoon

I found these fake moustaches, in a store. What's better on a Thursday afternoon, than to pose with an attitude! Well, Melina didn't actually posed as a "banker" (that was her moustache theme). Elias on the other hand I think he got the "biker" look. It was a fun afternoon. I recommend a little bit of silliness every now and then!

Before & After

September is here and so is my mood for renovation! We are back from our vacation two weeks now and we are busy changing our home. I love “before & after” pictures. I usually forget to take the “before” picture! But I found some by luck.
The kitchen looked, and was, very old. So, we decided to paint everything. Literally everything. The cupboards, the walls, the tiles, the bike and we placed white wooden floor to cover that terrible green marble!

Melina’s room was our home office and we have changed its form maaaany times. Elias is always teasing me about that!

The fireplace was a bit boring and didn’t match with the living room. So here it is all yellow and fresh!
Changing our home always make me smile and it definitely changes my mood. Autumn is perfect for that kind of change. So don’t think too much if you should paint the wall bright fuchsia or black, just do it!

21 August 2012

Well, yesterday afternoon was very interesting. We were taking some pictures of Melina, when we saw smoke behind a hill, not very close to our house, so we called the police and reported a fire. After half an hour, a friend called and asked how close were we. So we run out of the house and what we saw was the fire running down the hill like crazy! The wind was very strong and we were afraid that if it continued with that pace, our house was in danger. Luckily, the firemen did an excellent job and stopped the fire! Well done you guys! Fire should be only in one place... the fireplace!

Smiles :)

We were busy having friends over to our summer house, so not much time for blogging. But here are some highlight moments: Melina having her first spaghetti, a little turtle that crawled into my beach bag, dinner with friends and of course the, always amazing, sunset!

Sting (not the singer)

I know I said I wanted to come closer to nature by coming to Milos, but that wasn’t exactly what I meant! You see this beautiful, black creature? Well it stung me right in my left arm. So the past few days, my arm was swollen, I had fever and if that wasn’t enough, I had to take antibiotics for 5 days. Nice! Apart from this, Melina slept on the beach for the first time and also made her first boat trip around the island, swimming in this water! I love Milos!
